Bronchiectasis

Hi,

I have been diagnosed with asthma (7 years ago) and bronchiectasis (1 year ago). Recently my lungs have been feeling quite strange! It's as if they're floppy! When I cough (and I have been coughing quite a bit lately) I can feel them reverberating (flapping) in my chest. I've never had this happen before. should I be worried?

Hi Berkshire Bird I too have asthma and bronch but have not had the feeling you describe. If you have been coughing a lot recently I think you should see your doctor so they can check your lungs and see whether there is anything untoward going on.

As with Liz I have asthma and bronchiectasis and have not experienced this feeling of lungs being 'floppy'. Agree you should probably have a word with your GP. Hope it turns out well for you.

Hi there, I have had bronch since I was three. Our problem lies in the fact that we have floppy holes in our lungs caused by whatever did the damage. We rarely feel it as a sensation depending on ehere the damage is. Two years ago I had a virus which resulted in a new patch on the top left lung. Quite often I have a vibrating or floppy sensation there when I cough. My consultant knows about it but it doesn't seem to be an issue. I would join the others in urging you to see your doctor and to get it investigated by your consultant. Then you will know how to approach it in your daily life. xx

Hi I was Diagnosed with Allergic Broncho pulmonary Aspergellosis last year and have been given anti fungal medication. I also have Asthma. I have found the Aspergellosis website helpful and full of information. They do not mention a diet but give advise about what to eat and what to avoid. Maybe you can find some info there.
