Even if someone who has been given the all clear of lung cancer. Won't the cancer ALWAYS come back because the asbestos is still there?

As a general rule, nowadays, they would be unlikely to go through the cost of treating lung cancer if they though they couldn't deal with the cause....economics run part of our health service. With the cancer being caused by asbestos, they could at least see the cause....sometimes they just have to presume the cause.

Well done on the all clear!

I was cutting plywood, MDF and asbestos on a circular saw in the 70's & 80's without any face mask or vents. I was told that it was not the nasty blue asbestos! I have had chest problems most of my life. In 2008 I went down with a very severe infection. My lungs had compartmentalised because of bleeding and mucus. I only found out from my wife this week that they (Doctors) at first thought I had Cancer due to asbestos. ( she could not tell me in case it temped fate! Bless her) But when I told them I was told it was not they looked elsewhere! I lost 24% lung function with paralysed diaphragm, Fibrosis and RLD with PH now.

Just over 2 years ago I found a site that lists all the asbestos products safe and not. I found that the board we used was indeed not the blue but the Brown which is the second most deadly. As a result of this I have had many tests and an xray but they have not seen anything but I have now lost 55% of my lung function and it seems to be dropping 6% a year.

Asbestos is an evil product that can sit dormant for many years, over 35 years in the lungs but for whatever reason it can activate the events needed. But with the extremely high usage of this product last century it does seem that we are all on the asbestos lottery.

One thing I have noticed that in 2008 all my medical conversations were keen to investigate the asbestos probability. But because I was lied to it was shelved as Unexplained!

When I told my GP I had worked with asbestos It was redirected away. My Consultant has said that there is no ground glass showing on my 2010 xray? When I said that I had seen a Recorded statement at a medical conference that from his research the Pleura is were most asbestosis starts? Which is were most of my scarring is? He just said it is not eating you yet!

My father in-laws brother died of asbestosis due to working with the vile stuff when he was in his 30's he was 78when he passed. If it where caught earlier maybe yes he might have had a fighting chance. Some men are too frightened to go to the Dr because they know what they have. My father died of lung cancer he worked with flour all of his life. He had been coughing up blood more than a year before he collapsed and had to go to Hospital. So it must all depend on how long you have had symptoms, what type of cancer you have and where you live of course. 😘 I hope that helps a little. Nice to meet you.
