My dad gave up smoking a while back but his lungs are still damaged. He's doing all he is advised to help himself but his sleep is badly affected and it worries me. Would a humidifier in the room at night help him? Does anyone have any knowledge or even any other suggestions that might help him? Thanks in advance.

Humidifiers?
" Hello Hoopla. i am adding a link for you to take a look at a humidifier that i bought and i use myself. and i do find it does help me a lot with my breathing, i also use it when drying my laundry in doors too as it keeps the air dry. But it also depends on why your dad cant sleep, is it because of the damp air in his bedroom. i found when i gave up smoking after 40 odd years. i too had problems with at first. my breathing got worse but i am stage 4 with my COPD, but now i do feel my breathing is so much better. hope this may be of some help for you Hoopla. Also wishing you and your dad a happy Christmas and a Healthier New year..Megan.."

Oh Megan, thank you for your lovely reply. I'm so glad you're doing so well, and what an achievement!
My dad is swimming three times a week and I think the warm, damp air at the pool is helping so I feel it's worth a try. I just don't want to make him worse!
Hi, I do not post too much these days but was going through the posts this silly o'clock and found yours about humidifiers. If you dad is finding it good with the air in the pool then it may help him during the night. We bought a cheap one where you put water in and it produces variable amounts of steam and you can add eucalyptus or other oils to it if they help. At the time we had night storage heaters and it was stuffy in the bedroom and it certainly helped. If you need the link please let me know and I will send it to you. Good luck
