Hi zaman, don't quite understand what ur asking, not being rude but there isn't just one doctor that does emphasema, it depends where u live, u would have to be referred by ur own doctor or consultant, if u've been told u need surgery then it will be sorted for u by whoever u've seen and told u that, unless ur asking to go private again it depends on where u live, costs, don't know what else to advise u other than speaking to ur gp or ring the blf for advice. X Sonia x

Hi I am not sure what you mean either. Any doctor/surgeon can deal with emphysema but I can't understand why you need surgery for it unless it is putting coils in or something similiar?

Sonia is quite right - you need a referral by your doctor so you need to go back to them. Good luck. x

Hi Zaman, I saw your earlier request to a Johnwr post regarding his dr for lung surgery (valve?). This post may help you as it gives dr details and a few people seem to have had successful treatment from her: healthunlocked.com/blf/post...

Best wishes,xxx

I'm not sure what you mean - I have emphysema and so far I attend my surgery, see the Nurse Practitioner (who specialises in lung disease which is a blessing for me,) and I have inhalers, etc., been on the pulmonary rehab clinic, have my lungs reviewed every 3 months - have had a couple of chest exrays, but no surgery has been discussed with me. You definitely need to talk to your doctor and have you contacted one of the BLF nurses?? Take care - good luck. :)

Hi Everybody,

My Bangladesh Dr.informed me, after seeing my chest HRCT scan, Xray and PFT, that, I have severe emphasema in the upper lobe of my right lung and need to remove the damaged part 20-30% of my right upper lobe so that the remaining healthier lung can work perfectly. I have also discussed this matter with another Dr. in Singapore and he suggested me to go for endo bronchial valve. My other Dr. from Delhi ,India informed me to go for LVRS. Now I am confused, what should I do.

In this situation, I need to know perfectly, what treatment will be better for me.

Can any body help me ?

Thanks in advance for perfect help to me.

Hi Zaman, see my reply to you above and read that link, it may give you the contact details you want. However, as has been said you need to see a dr where you are, and have a discussion and evaluation around all the options that are available to you (based on your particular situation). Please discuss with your dr the advantages of the various procedures available and why some may be "better" for you. Good luck and sorry I cannot help any further. Best wishesxxx

Hi Zaman. It's a difficult question. I am in the position of the valve implants not working and have now been referred for LVRS (removal of left upper lobe) which should happen early in the new year. So the question is - why not go for the surgery first? I am fortunate to live in the UK where this is all free but I imagine where you are these procedures cost real money and that is a factor also. (pay for one or pay for two?)
