Hi everyone, just had call from secretary of consultant re IPF: its not clear, and as of yet there is no genetic tests but was told there seems to be family cluster ????? Been told contact pals, l asked to talk to consultant, told his clinics so booked, but she will ask him.

Hi rocket, not really an answer then, only bonus if there is no genetic test then it's either very very rare, or very unlikely, try not to worry I know that's easier sed then done but no point stressing over something that might never happen and u don't need the stress. Hi Rockett. You are so lucky to have ongoing support from your hospital. As soon as Mike died that was it. I had a card from the Respiratory care nurse and a phone call from the Palliative care nurse. The Hospice sent me a card as well. Telling me I could go to. Bereavers group. Otherwise nothing. it was like nobody cared.

I did quite a bit of research when Mike had IPF so knew it could be a family thing. I try not to think about it. Especially with four boys. It mainly hits people over sixty and men. By the time they get there I hope they have found a cure. I'm sure they will have. Try not to worry. X

its really sad the way docs react. Hubby's consultant not going to get back to me, even though secretary thought he might.

IPF is such a horrid illness.

Think i've come to a point that the children dont need to do more than grief their dad's passing, unless genetic testing available. What would it gain? other than scare them and they all could be fine. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. We to have boys and a grandson.

I think we have got to think like that. We could worry ourselves sick if we think about it. We know what it's like to lose a loved one to IPF. We mustn't worry about what might be. My Boys know and will be aware of anything if it should turn up. I hope the goodness it doesn't. I keep it to the back of my mind. Two of mine smoke as well. They just don't listen. They tell me I nag them. I said I will carry on nagging till they stop. I don't think they will though. After all it doesn't happen to people like them. We know it does though don't we?
