Really?? Today it is not like that at all! You will have more constant weather than here though. To balance it out I should say that it is often stormy, rainy and windy. We are on the edge of the gulf stream so the temperature is slightly higher than on the mainland, although there are other places in the UK have those trees as well. Have you posted any photos of your area yet, as I would love to see them. hugs from Huggs xxxx

What a lovely view,you could easily imagine a nice continental breakfast,the morning papers,basking in the sun.
Sometimes we can do that, but as it is off the west coast of Scotland there is a lot of rain and wind as well. I mean a lot. !! LOL That view shows it as its best, but I probably have one similar during a storm. Its been a lovely summer here though, but right now its pouring rain and that view is grey and overcast now with low cloud. Still love it though! hugs from Huggs xx

Oh dear, I wondered about that too! LOL Maybe I shouldn't post any more views, because it might be unsettling for people who are not as fortunate as me. Just thought they may provide something pleasant and calming for people, and I have told people where it is, so they can google it for themselves and see a lot more than I can post. Pleased you are enjoying the pic's though. I might stop for a while. The internet is so fantastic that we can all google nice places that we will never be able to go to, and get enjoyment from that. Me, call me daft, but I love the North Pole! I go there all the time. LOL hugs from Huggs xx

Are you sure Sonia? I really wouldn't want to unsettle people who are not so fortunate as I am. Don't want to overdo it either, as some people might get fed up looking at where I live. There are loads of people who live in nice places, and it would be nice to see them as well. Maybe I am just missing them.

Yes please continue your picture posts. How else are we going to monitor you success at breeding the haggis. It will look so cute with the little critters frolicking in the sun there. Usually the only photos one sees in tourist leaflets has Highland haggis in the heather. Rib

Huggs I look at mansions, swimming pools, horses, wads of money , I ain't got em, probably never will but nice to look at and dream I might one day, so ur pics are a pleasant change from my surroundings. I love where I live I have lots of trees around , a beautiful field with a stream to walk the dog when I can right outside my back gate, but still nice to look at sumnet different to what I have . I will find some more to post then over the next few days, and hope you enjoy them. Did I mention googling the Isle of Bute as there is plenty to see on line about it? I can't get out much to take photos now, so they are all a couple of years old. That doesn't matter though. It sounds lovely where you live. I think anywhere that has water is lovely.

Its on the Isle of Bute off the west coast.
Scotland is fab, i love it. Only thing is the midges especially this time of year. My poor partner only had to get out of the car to be surrounded by a black cloud of 'em - literally, you couldn't see her head. That was on Skye which is gorgeous otherwise. Do you get them on Bute?
We certainly do, big time!! Never seen them in a black cloud though. Scotland is famous for its midges! LOL Skye is beautiful as well, as it is in loads of places. You should google Arran and Isle of Mull, Isle of Cumbrae and all over the Highlands. I really do appreciate Scotland. hugs from Huggs xxx

What do you use to keep them off Huggs?
Ive travelled all over the highlands, mostly camping. Also stayed several times on Egilsay in the Orkneys where a friend used to live. Just 30 ppl on the island and they had to open the village school up again for her child, as there wasn't a daily ferry to Orkney mainland.
Never been to Arran or Mull or Bute. One day . . .
I don't really get out much now, so they aren't so much a problem for me now. I know they are attracted to perfumes and scents of any kind. I use to use something, which was quite effective but cannot remember the name of it. It will come back to me, or someone else will remember it. It was a cream in a yellow tube. There are probably more effective ones now though. Also candles are effective if you are having a picnic or sitting outside. They do spoil things though.
I use to live on Shetland as well, and visited Fair Isle while there and got stranded because the boat broke down. At that time it only had a bird sanctuary so had to stay in it. LOL
The school situation in Orkney also happens in the northern tips of Shetland. Great teaching for kids though, and now they get linked to other schools via computers.

Gorgeous,I often wonder what draws us to the sea and why it makes us feel better just looking at it.My Mum who wasn't fond of water used to call it the cruel sea hey up getting a bit deep now .....excuse the pun x

The gulf stream runs through Bute, I think we are just on the edge of it, which makes it a bit warmer than on the mainland, which is why we can grow some tropical plants. Other parts of the UK can do so as well, but do not ask me where.

Torquay is the only place I know of that grows palm trees but your pic reminds me of those lovely mountains of mourn and home I left 60 years ago

As I have just said to Smiler, I had a feeling that Torquay grew them, but didn't want to say that in case I was wrong!! LOL I must google the mountains of mourn, as they have also fascinated me.

There is always something good to focus on as you say. I really love mother nature, even the extremes of it. Apart from where people get hurt, injured or flooded that is. My heart goes out to the people who get flooded all the time. I can't even begin to think how they cope with that. In Scotland its usually the wind that causes the damage although there are areas that have been flooded. We got flooded around 23 years ago, and it was awful. Then flood defences were put up, and if we get it now, there are only a few places that get flooded, but not nearly as bad as before.

Thought I might just go for a dip Huggs, the photo is lovely but the real thing is much better. I'll just dream and hope I can take that dip next year xx
The real thing is much better Katie, I haven't swam in the water in this photo, but have swam with my dogs at Ettrick Bay a couple of miles away. Ettrick Bay has a tearoom, and stunning views of Arran and nothing else. However you have to be careful of the jelly fish.! Not nice at all. One of my dogs use to play with a seal. I know some people will find that hard to believe. My dog was fetching sticks from the water, and I was talking to someone who suddenly noticed the seal surfacing near my dog. At first I thought it was a Labrador, but it was a seal who kept ducking and diving, and Tammy (dog) kept swimming over to where it disappeared. They kept playing for ages like this, and she would not leave the water until the seal got fed up. LOL I will just keep dreaming too, as I couldn't swim nowadays, although I haven't tried it in years. You never forget how to, its just the breathing aspect of it. Happy days.

There are some places off the welsh coast too where seals come in quite close and can be seen. I live in the Midlands so only see these things on holiday. As you say you never forget how to swim but the breathing slows you up, I find breast stroke is better now than the crawl. But don't get much chance to swim. It is supposed to be a very healthy activity even for lung conditions but is not promoted as much as PR. At least your dog had a good time I guess swimming with the seal lovely memories for you too. xx
