Hi

I have copd and use oxygen for 15 hours per day, My family would like to take me on a cruise.

My question is has anyone else been on a cruise if so how did they organise their oxygen supply. Look forward to you replies.

By the way I think this blog is wonderful it's been very helpful to me.

Hi Scud,

It is possible to rent a portable oxygen concentrator. The one I have used also can be used on flights. It looks like a carry on case and is very neat. Also, I would contact some cruise lines and see what is offered with their facilities. Good Luck and enjoy your cruise.! Lolly

Hi

You are more than likely have to hire suitable equipment, speak to the cruise company for any special requirements.

For equipment hire try.

healthoxygen.com/rental-inf...

Do you need Ambultory oxygen as well? I.e. For walking around.

If you speak to the above company they will discuss all you needs.

Hi there.

P and O, Princess Cruises and most of the other cruise liners leave from Southampton on a regular basis. It's very easy to get on the ships and geared for disabled people. You can park right outside the ship. They will park your car safely. There are lifts on the ships and they really look after you. The staff are all trained to care for disabled people and are very kind.

Although I don't require disabled care, I would not hesitate to recommend a cruise. You will absolutely love it. The restaurants, entertainment, cabins are brilliant on the ships. And don't worry about feeling sea sick as you hardly know you're moving.

Just let the agent you book with know your disabilities and the cruise liner will organise a wheelchair and everything else. Go and Have fun. You'll be hooked after the first cruise, I promise.
