Hi sue

DLA has now been replaced by PIP. If I were you I would ask a Benefits Expert from either Welfare Rights, CAB or DIAL for advice and help in filling in any forms - it can be a minefield but these people are doing this every day and take the pressure off for you.

Good luck

You can also ring up the BLF helpline no. under the red balloon at the top. They will be open again at 10am tomorrow. Look under direct.gov.uk and go into benefits. Although it says DLA only go into this bit and under DLA you will find PIP which has now replaced DLA for new claimants. PIP stands for Personal Independant Payments. Take care. x

BLF Helpline phone number is 03000 030 555 ( I give it, because I've never found this red balloon! But you can find it in the blue band at the top and click on the right of it in "About". This will give you the same number as above!

I have moderate COPD and problems with my knees I have got a blue badge. I tried twice for DLA and was turned down. Since I was 68 years old I tried for pip attendance because I live on my own and need help turned down again after being told by the gentleman that came to see me he was confident I would get day time care.

All the best hope you get it. Rose

gov.uk/benefits-calculators will put you though a shortish question and answer and tell you what you MAY be entitled to.

Speak to CAB or AGE UK if you do claim as it is all in the wording.
