I would like to holiday in Rome this year. Can anyone share experiences of oxygen providers please?
Im wondering the same thing boiler. I want to travel in Italy - Venice and Rome - haven't had time so far to try to suss it out as we would travel through france by train on the way. Best thing might be to hire a portable concentrator then i'd be independent of suppliers, but that would be heavy to carry on a plane so might not work for you if you are flying.
Hi O2Trees, thanks for your reply. I will be taking a portable concentrator with me and this will be great when I am in the hotel etc but I don't know if it would be suitable for getting about during the day. Can these be used while walking?
I don't know myself Boiler. But I'm sure people do use them for walking around as i assume that's what portable means. I think they can be put in a little trolley thingy, but what do i know, I'm very knew to O2 and feeling my way around at present

Your own oxygen supplier should provide you with a portable oxygen concentrator, but your Respiratory Nurse needs to request it for you. Most concentrators are pulse operated so you would need to be assessed for this.
I have had an Imogen XPO2 concentrator that worked brilliantly (delivers up to 3litres per minute). I found it cut off if increased to 4 litres though.
This machine is carried like a shoulder bag and easily carried on a plane (a letter from your Dr stating you require O2 was required forme).
As for being out all day, you could carry the electric cable and ask cafés etc if you can charge your machine up. This is what I did and no-one ever refused.
As I now require up to 5litres I am hiring a concentrator myself from Pure O2 Company as my supplier doesn't have a machine that delivers on this level.
