My sister passed away last year from having copd she was 51 I would like to hold an event to rase funds but dont know how to start x

I am fairly new to this site so can't advise you directly. However if you type fundraising into the search box at the top of this page it comes up with a number of posts and blogs which might give you some ideas.

Alternatively you could phone British Lung Foundation , I think their number can be found by clicking on the red balloon at the top of the page.

Hi farmerwife01, sympathies to your loss. What a nice thing to do in her memory. If you have chosen a charity, then give them a call. They will give you a charity number to use. This is important. I'm sure they can send an info pack with everything you need to know. Good luck, hope you raise lots.

I do a lot of fundraising, it's better to start off small. A cake sale, where people will help you make cakes (for free) maybe hold it in a particular hospital, or community centre or school. Also, you could do a tombola, beg for prizes, or do a short safe walk. Ask a local shop for a teddy bear, and do a name the bear, that particular idea could carry on over a week or so, until you fill in a page full of names you select. If you need any more info just contact me. I've done all those things and more, last year I organised a rock & roll event, that raised nearly £1.000. If you have the time and feel inclined you could do the smaller things once or twice a year, or, on your sisters anniversary and donate to whichever charity you choose. For a couple of years I have been fund raising for our Dementia care ward in our local hospital. At Christmas we held a tombola and raised over £100, they used that to but the patients a Christmas present. Another time they bought specialised books with money raised. Hiya. Really sorry to hear your news. I had a niece who had a very serious brain tumour recently but luckily survived. She was only 13 when her journey started. I felt so helpless. But knew I was not an organised person but wanted to show my support as I felt so helpless living so far away. I discovered Unity. It's a charity lottery. You chose the charity that you wish to support. And then pay a monthly lottery fee.
