Lightheaded

I have severe COPD, and am still working full time, I dont have any real issues yet unless I am walking uphill, where I have to take my time and stop a few times. But sometimes, if i stand up quickly, I feel like I am going to faint, is this usual?

Well, it is not something my husband suffers with and would perhaps suggest a blood pressure issue? Might be best to get it checked with the Doctor. TAD xx

Stitch, I used to get this from having labyrinthitis.

For a split second sort of black out when moving my head slightly looking sideways or up/down.

I'd got it intermittently over a few years. Oddly enough, I've not had it for 3 or more years.

Might be sugar levels, best to get the doc to take bloods and check! Take care.

Apparently this is quite common Kad21. There a page in the daily Mail today about it that you can read online. Haven't read it yet! All the best.

It could be your blood pressure dropping when you stand up quickly...I have seen a nurse testing a patient's blood pressure when sitting and then standing.

I used to get dizzy if I got out of bed too quickly...don't do that anymore!

Best ask your gp as everyone is different, it could be something else . Best wishes

Hi Kad21 its probably best to see your gp and get checked,I suffer with dodgy bp up and down all over the place I have learned to do the quick movements more slowly now for me it helps with that dizzy fainty feeling. But as someone else has said low blood sugars can do the same. I think its also quite common when standing quick to feel dizzy i can hear people saying ",ooops ive stood up to quick!" when it happens just stay still a moment or sit back down it normally passes quickly. But go pay the doc a visit Kad21 get checked over eh? :) Janexx

Thanks everyone for your replies, I have never had an issue with BP, and had an ultrasound on my heart not long ago, which was fine. I will ask my Doc, but he is a bit useless, just blames everything on the COPD,...

It does sound like low blood pressure. As others have mentioned, slow down. Take your time when standing. Main thing is DON'T let it get to you. A little medication is probably the answer. Good luck.

same, sometimes when I am walking through the shopping centre I feel really strange, not faint but like I am tuning out if that makes any sense, don't know how else to explain it.

Stitch, exactly, just a split of a split second total black out.

It happened when just moving my eyeballs and it started years ago when I was extremely fit.

I would test it, trying to keep my head still & just move eyeballs to see when walking along but it still happened. Anyway, was dead worried as it was definitely different from that "oo, I stood up too fast" feeling.

It seemed too ridiculous for words, no one knew what I was talking about but I had a very lucky break when I finally went to GP, she laughed and told me to stand in the middle of the room, close my eyes and march on the spot. After a few minutes she said to stop & open my eyes. I was amazed to find myself across the other side of the room!

She said shed probably never have known but it had been happening to her son & ended up taking him to specialist who did that test. She was quite pleased with herself & so was I (I didn't have a brain tumour)! Plus to the treatment was seasickness pills!

My sister in law gets it now but far worse than I did, real balance probs & nausea.

One good thing for me at least, I've not had it since lung probs. weird, I can only think it's because of all the antiBs over the years doing something to my sinuses.

Do go to doc though, Kad21 too, it could be a number of things and you don't want to actually fall to add to the woes. xx

ah, you'd better mention it to doc then in case it happens again. Mention someone you 'know' has Labyrinthitis and similar symptoms. Sometimes with the lung issues nothing seperate gets a look in.

Maybe something simple as having ears cleaned ut best check. xx

I'm all wrapped up right now & ready to go off to Nat Portrait Gallery again. Van Gogh exhibition on, yippie.

I got a nice photo of the Blue Cockerl in the moonlight yesterday eve on the plinth. Will post when I work out how to get pics off new Android phone.

Do you take fluid tabs? That happens to me when on them.

Maybe you should change Docs.if he seems rather disinterested!

Hope the fires not affecting you?

Love Wendells xx
