Better air? less pollution than you're normally used to? Different air pressure? that makes a big difference for me. Enjoy it while you can :)

I went to Scarborough a few years ago, my copd then must have been mild/moderate although I didn`t know I had it at the time and I walked from one bay to the other round the castle on the sea path in the rain. At the time I was just puffed out climbing up hills but I put that down to my age. I gave up walking when my condition got worse but now I`ve learnt that exercise is so important for us. I`m now severe and would like to do that route again, I`d do it slowly and having to stop at times but I`d like to try.

Beautiful description SusieQs how important walking is when harnessed with the will to try.

There is more oxygen in the air at the coast, less pollutants too. When i went to skegness earlier in the year i felt brilliant and only needed an inhaler once the whole time.

Hi dantheman - I had similar experience with improved breathing when I had one afternoon by the beach in Brighton during the summer!!! In a short time, I really felt the salt air in my lungs and it raised my spirits no end. Last year, I spent a week in Lanzarote in November and went over there with a terrible cough and breathing problems but came back feeling much better and stronger from the sea air. Unfortunately, I haven't the means to choose where I can live and have to put up with traffic pollution but I dream one day of living by the sea, in a warmer climate. Any offers anyone.......? I am happy to wash dishes and look after your cat for just a couple of weeks?????!!!!!!!???!!!!!!

During Easter, spent 5 days in NW Anglesey near Amlwch - much easier to breathe there compared with at home & was able to do more physical tasks without having to stop & sit or leaning rest all the time.

Are there relevant stats anywhere to show impact of regional air quality on sufferers?
