I have chronic sarcoidosis and advanced cataract in one eye. What are extra risks/complications of cataract surgery for sarc sufferers?

Hi Sky777, I'm sorry I can't help you with your question but if you put "sarcoidosis" in the search box at the top right of the page it will come up with lots of previous posts regarding the condition and hopefully you may find the answer you are looking for there. Also, someone may come along on the forum to help you. Welcome to the forum! Sadie xx

I am not sure about this particular operation but if your lungs are affected then I think there are issues about anaethetic etc in general. I recently had to have a procedure done which normally requires a general anaesthetic, but I got a local instead. Your docotors/consultants should talk it all through with you and answer any questions. They shoudl have your medical history so if they are suggesting an op then it seems they have decided that you are fit enough to go through with it. If you are concerned have a chat with them. I am not sure the risks are any different because you have sarc. But definitley speak to your medical people if you are concerned.
