HI BlakeyC.....Talking of benefit-advisers, I had an appointment today with a money advisor as after all stopages from my ESA I'm left with 50.00 out of which I have to pay bedroom tax which leaves me with 19.00 per week to do everything. As your all intelligent folks there is no need to say more. The advisor rang DWP as the 15 weeks period of which I wasn't aware is long gone and they advised to ring Atos.for the required assessment. She rings Atos and they speak to me. I'm very sorry madame but we can't help you at this current time as there is a backlog of people to deal with. the advisor takes over and explains re: extreme financial hardship/ debts / ill health etc and all she kept repeating was the same line '' I'm sorry its out of our hands''. What does one do? According to the news we are all living it up on benefits. This should be the joke of the day! Disgruntled Holly!

I believe if you have to finish work on health grounds and your wife works part-time it would be best for her to make a claim for any help, she may get some tax relief help too. and they will tell her if you need to claim some things. The local council usually has a benefits department that can do a benefit check as they call it to establish your rights. Not sure if the BLF helpline does this too. You may have to go to the job center due to the changing rules going on at present good luck with your health retirement. Let us know how you get on, best wishes

I no longer work as I am on oxygen my partner is only working 25 hours ( because of the distant he has to leave 11/2 hours before start time) due to redundancy and so far we have not been able to claim anything. I applied for PIP in June and was in front of a panel in August but still not heard anything. I ring and ring ATOS but they just repeat what they are told to. It is like a record "your papers are still with the audit panel" I asked my MP to help about a month ago but he has got no further than me. This is the first time I have needed help and it is upsetting when you have to chase it up. Family help and this is lovely but why are we not entitled to anything. I came from a family of 7 children, we were brought up on family values and each child worked hard. We all went on to have our own children, I had 5, and all our children work. We were never a drain on society, we all paid our taxes yet now when we need a little help I feel people are just turning their backs on us.

I put in a fresh claim in June they sent it to a tribunal I rang and told them I was not appealing as I had not been turned down that was September and still waiting its a case of how long is a piece of string.

Hi rowly 1999

Have you applied for the discretionary housing payment from your council,,ask them for the forms put all your expenditure on it,,i have just been granted it, like you on ESA,and i live in the rurals so need my car etc,,have only got it for 3 months but saves me 3 moths bed tax,,. Also waiting atos as well,i do believe they are about 5 months behind,,you could always ask your local MP to intervene, thats if he cares enough that is,,good luck ,,chrissie
