Thankyou for the welcome and you make it feel a nice place to be, I must admit I have been reading others pass info on to each other and really been happy doing that but haven,t come across the question I ve asked... I have Hypothyroid ,due to treatment for a Hyperthyroid irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure and was told about IPF 2 years ago. I have no treatment for IPF apart from oxygen when walking out and about. At 73 I want to last as long as possible but it gets harder each day and I found out about Serrapeptase on Patients like me forum who all suffer IPF and say it helps the condition so thought I would give it a try.

Hi Imelda - have you asked to be assessed for suitability for Pirfenidone? It was approved recently and can slow progression of the disease. Gill

Gidge I did know about Pirfenidone and had got all info on it but when I asked my consultant his answer "yes we are all very excited about it but do you know how much it costs , and at the moment your condition is static". So when I see him again I will mention it , my last appointment was 6 months ago and I think things have changed .I would like to say to everyone you have lifted my spirits a lot as I am also a novice on the computer THANKYOU ALL.

HI, My husband has severe copd and has used serrapeptase for a number of years. It seems to help him cough up mucous and seems to help. Having said that he stopped taking it about 3 weeks ago and there has been no noticeable change. Good Luck ! Take care, TAD xx

Welcome Imelda,

I've not used serrapeptase, but I did find the web md information very interesting, here is the link:

I am wondering if this may help you too Mattcass.

Best wishes BC

Hi Imelda16 and welcome. My Husband has IPF. We went to a Meet The Experts Forum at Taunton last week and I asked about Serrepatase. We had A Dame there and a Proffesor also Drs. Anyway they said there has been no evidence that Serrepatase works.

Hello everyone,I did read that Serrapeptase helped some people with COPD on a website.
