Be watchful about manuka honey. Not running it down BUT don't rely on it. At the price it costs, I would want wonderful rests. Love Annie x

we use it daily in a glass of lemon water, it is expensive but I managed to get 500g of 25+ for £26 this week, I guess every little bit helps in some way.

I am sure it helped me with the 'unkillable' bugs, It appeared to make me feel better, less cough and more breath. It could of course be in my mind. At £26 a jar it is not cheap, I have however noticed that taking a spoonful at night does calm my chest and makes it easier to go to sleep. It was recommended by a respiratory nurse who has a vast experience in these things. Don't forget it must be 25+ strength to work. Hunt the internet to find a good price.

Well Twinks - I actually think it does. I only have experience of the expensive stuff - though recently I bought a jar in Asda for £9.99 and it does seem to help. The last time (in May) when my husband was very ill we didn't have any antibiotics over the weekend so I resorted to manuka honey and it certainly helped. Enough that my husband will actually take a spoonful when he thinks he is not feeling well. I also give it to the children if they sniffle or cough. It apparently has fantastic antibacterial properties and I thought I would give my husband a teaspoon every day in winter on the basis it cant do any harm! Lots of research done on honey including manuka and in the main it looks very positive. Historically I remember my gran telling me to take honey and lemon for a cold! Take care, TAD xx

Hi Twinks, I'm almost out of my Wellbeeing 25+ bought through Amazon so was having a good trawl looking for a replacement (that particular one has gone up).

The reviews make good reading, people say how and where it's changed their lives.

Personally, I've been taking coffee spoon a day, 2 if I feel dodgey - when I remember - all I can say is I've not had a bout of chronic bronchitis for six whole months!!

Also, yesterday I was wondering why I've not had so much pain in my thumbs which had been very swollen and painful. I suddenly twigged that it could be the Manuka. So I'm a convert for sure - and I'm very down to earth & very suspicious of any 'wonder products'.

Have a read of the reviews on amazon when you have time Twinks, many say it's made their GERD a whole lot better too.

Yes it's expensive but as Homebreeze once said to me "you're worth it". At just a spoon a day it lasts ages, just check the size of jar is 500grms , often postage is free. Very very cheap versions I wouldn't buy in case it's fake. Peeg xx

Have you also tried normal honey...the real stuff not squirty or any other. Several years ago I had my toes crushed in an accident and had to have the nail beds removed. I was in Queens Med in Nottingham and apart from clean gauze dressing, the only other thing I had on my poor throbbing toes was honey. They started healing within days. All honey have marvellous anti bacterial properties.

they might have used Manuka medicinal gauze? You can buy it as well. I think your local honey is very good form your local bees & plants. You have to stock up though to have enough to get you through the winter.

As I live in polluted London I dont fancy anything grown around here so I stick to the Manuka! :)

In the 80's, things were different. They bought local honey, purchased on a "Procurement Order" issued by the local health authority. The gauze dressings were dry and the honey was spread on a wooden spatula straight from the jar. When we were travelling, my son developed rather extreme hay fever and the local doctor told us the way to cure was to buy local honey from the area where his hay fever had started....this was in Greece. It worked and honey, wherever it is from, has magical powers. In this area, hay fever is may be caused by the growing of oil seed rape but if you buy honey from the area, it clears it up. If you need honey, go for a drive out into the country side and buy it from the bee keepers...still got magical healing powers.

Hi all, I'm glad it works for those who say it does. I bought a pot with the largest dose several years ago to stop coughing. I took a spoonful. I had never been so ill after. so. I'm sorry but for me it doesn't work. (I gave my pot to someone who had a leg ulcer. Apparently, it worked some!

The "magical" ingredient in honey is called propolis. Bees use it to mend their injuries. It's supposed to be good to restore health.

I must be an odd bod, because I did try propolis, again for my cough, but it didn't do anything for me.

To tell you the truth, I prefer to buy a jar of Spanish Lavender honey. This is a soft tasting honey that I can bear. AGain, the idea is to eatt his with cinnamon, which I don't like too much! Soory being the odd bod out!

I tried it for nearly a year and if I'm honest I saw no change at all aprt from the fact the old wallet was a lot lighter ;)

Think I will have to try this for myself, the price has always put me off as on limited income, but I like Amazon, and will see what they have to offer, thank you everyone for your tips.
