Following tests my FEV1 showed at 30% pre inhaler and 47% post inhaler. So which of these figures do I provide as FEV1 when asked?

I would quote my usual 31% pre-inhaler reading, especially on any official forms.

Regards, Bobby

I would both .... But depends who is asking

Cheers all the best:)

Well, my DLA (Motability) is due for renewal next January, so that's what I was thinking of, but I was also wondering which of the 2 figures is my 'real' FEV1 ...

Hi Struggle, the correct reading is the lower one without medication. This is the one my consultant uses. HOWEVER the last time I had a Spirometry I was asked to use my Ventolin inhaler ( not Spiriva which I use also ). 20 minutes before test. If in doubt speak to an expert. Cheers. ,.....Adrian

Thanks to all for responses but Adrian, particularly, for such clarity :-)

A really good question as I have been advised both ways by different doctors. I think Daz has a good answer, whichever suits the situation.
