I had a lasting power of attorney for finances a couple of years ago it cost about 350 pounds with a specialist company, will was much cheaper. If you want a care power of attorney it costs even more, hope this info is of help.

You don't need to go through a solicitor - you can just get the forms and do at least most of it yourself. See this website for all the info you need.

We were going to go down this route for my Dad but he sadly deteriorated too quickly. Naturally the forms are quite complex but we felt able to cope with them, mainly as my husband has a law degree. If you find the forms too daunting then it might be best to go via a solicitor as anything that's incorrect will lead to delays in getting the power of attorney in place. Good luck with it all.

I went through lasting power of attorney for my husband which gives control over health and finance, it cost me £450. Evidently it used to be quite straightforward but has got more complex hence the cost. Susie Q
