Montelukast

I've been on Montelukast for a few years and have noticed all the major health people say it is not good for children.....

I'm 72 and have had asthma for about 65 years and have always been aware of what I was taking

I remember the Franol days and having a really bad temper.

I was called a loose cannon at school

I stopped taking it by refusing and my temper went

So, Montelukast makes me sweat like crazy if I take it at bed time and the sweats/shivers go on throughout the night.

And so, I stopped taking the pills and am sleeping so well that my bed doesn't look "trashed" in the morning...

Anyone else?

I've been on Montelukast for a while. It seems to provide a constant stream of vivid dreams. But we are all different. Have you spoken to your GP ?

causes vivid dreams for me too. But I figure it’s better being able to breathe. :)

No on GP :/ I am all for diving in. I'm a lot more perky in the morning and sleep really well.

I take it in the morning, no vivid dreams and no other side effects after some years. I only feel the benefits of it. 🤷‍♀️

I have always been under the impression that it was night time only...

If you do a search for Montelukast on this site, you’ll find a number of previous posts enquiring about it over time. People take the medication at different times and adapt as needed/tolerated. My respiratory team are happy about my taking it in the morning, and it works for me. 🤷‍♀️

Well I've been on it 4 weeks now with no side affects, so far but wow what a difference it has made to me, I noticed a difference after only a couple of days

That's really encouraging. I'm about to add Montelukast (and Spiriva) to Luferbec this week so here's hoping I have the same experience as you DannyQ.

It's really helped with my running as well which is the main reason I was put on it

Have not associated Montelukast with the shivers, I get these quite a lot at night, so much so I have to get up and go downstairs for rest of night. Thank you for mentioning this x

hi disco balls , I take Montelukadt for asthma and find that these tablets remove a considerable amount of stringy mucus that would otherwise congestion my lungs. My oxygen saturation has gone from 93 to 97 so in my case I find they help me a lot. I take them at night just before I go to bed. I haven’t noticed I sweat but found I have to go to the toilet more often I’m not sure if this medication is the cause.
