Increased facial hair growth (due to stereoid inhaler)

Hello! I’m using Fostair for 2 years now. 4 puff a day. And I noticed that I have more hair on my face espicially on my upper lip and chin ( I have 4 black thick hair) My hormones are normal and dont have pcos. Has anyone experienced this? And Is it gonne bad? Thank you in advance

I have been on fostair for many years as well as prednisolone for 19 years. Yes I have very fine hair on my face noticeable especially in good light but whether this is due to the long term effects of medication or getting older( approaching 70) I don't know.

perhaps an asthma nurse at your local practice could advise you?

Its a difficult one because every one is different - for me having severe asthma and surviving a respiratory arrest am just so grateful to still be here so a soft down on my face is a small price to pay - perhaps others on the forum can give tips on how to help you with this? I now have a hairy face on both sides and my chin, I am on 200/6 fostair for last 2 years, so could be, I hate it so embarrassing x

Hello, thank you for your reply! Is it like hirsutism? And If it's not private, how about before are you normally hairy person and then increase afterwards or was there only a certain amount of increase, not too intense?

hi, not normally a hairy person as quite fair skinned, its like a dark fuzz, my hairdressers shave it off for me and I pluck my chin x

thank you for your reply, so I’m blonde and I noticed it too. I’m using fostair. How many chin hairs have you got? And Sorry for too many questions I’m just scared if its gone bad. And I noticed my peach fuzz going darker too.

hi, its not a problem, I get about 5 really tough black ones and lots of fine ones, try not to worry or talk to your gp or asthma nurse. My hairdresser said it is more common than you think on ladies x

Thank you so much Yes I think we kind a have a same problem, Did you talked about it with your ashtma nurse? When I talkes to mine she told me its not very possible but my dermatologist said it’s possible

Hi, I hadn't thought about this connection but you may be right, I have 'peach fuzz' over my lower cheeks and I too pluck my chin and upper lip now, I thought it was menopause related but I have been on steroid inhalers for years too.
