Seretide after bad Fostair experience

Hi

After having to use my blue inhaler alongside my Clenil each night for a long time due to wheezing I was put on Fostair. Unfortunately I had bad side effects including heart palpitations, chest twinges, oral thrush and a bad episode where I was short of breath with sore lungs. I’ve been given Seretide now but I’m so worried the same thing will happen so I’ve been too scared to try it. Has anyone who had bad side effects with Fostair been ok on Seretide? Thank you!

It's definitely worth a try. We are all different. I've the opposite experience I was on Seretide which for me was awful in several ways, it was changed to Fostair MART and I've never looked back. For me the change was utterly brilliant so I hope you'll be much better with your swap.

Everyone is different and as such the only way you can see if you have any side effects is to try the new inhaler.

Remember that if lots of people had side effects then any medication would be quickly be taken off the market! Also the more stressed and anxious you are the more likely it is of you having breathing issues anyway!!

Give it a go and hopefully this inhaler is the right one for YOU,!

So interesting to hear of your issues with Fostair, I had a similar experience, the asthma nurse increased it and I nearly ended up in hospital due to side effects. Following speaking to a consultant at the hospital I have now stopped taking Fostair for the past 4 days, feel much better, however just making do with my blue inhaler, worried about what they might give me now. Consultant has put me back to my GP.

I’m sorry you had a similar experience. The side effects were so scary. I hope you can find something that works for you. Have you been able to speak to your GP yet?

Hello Sam,

I've been on Seretide forever, I have never had any issues with it.. I always drink water after taking it.

I too have been on Seretide forever without any side effects. My asthma is well controlled. I recently discussed other inhalers at my asthma review but the concensus was don't change what works. I should give it a go and see. Good luck.
