Update - "Any advice?"

Hi all πŸ‘‹ I posted about a month ago when a chest infection led to a pretty bad flare up, which I am only just starting to recover from from now. πŸ˜” Thanks for all of the advice on the last post, as it really helped. I had a follow up appointment with my consultant on Friday, which did set some steps moving forward but was a little unsatisfying. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Having spoken to my GP the day before, I was hoping for a really clear plan and the go-ahead for biologics, maybe a different preventer, or something... but it turns out that I have to have more breathing tests, more blood tests, because my eosinophil count hasn't been high on tests. I did my research, so I did raise that there are now biologics for allergies (my mixed grass/pollen came up high) and for inflammation (blood tests show really high inflammation when things go bad), and he said I would be referred to some super specialist for asthma (I may be paraphrasing here πŸ˜†) to look into it. I asked about trying a different preventer, as my brother and sister have been moved onto Relvar Ellipta, but he said I'm basically on the same stuff, and the maximum at that, so said it was an option but to manage expectations.

He did also refer me to ENT, as it all seems to start in my sinuses, and I asked to see the hospital asthma nurse, as that still hasn't happened.

I'd also spoken to an asthma nurse at Asthma and Lung UK, which helped, and I was advised to request an Alpha-tryptine deficiency blood test, as 2 of my siblings also have severe asthma, so got that at the GP on Thursday.

Anyways, I suppose stuff is moving along, but, having read other posts about similar issues, it may be more of a battle than I was hoping for. πŸ™ƒ I'll keep fighting it though πŸ‘Š

Thanks,

Lisa

Good morning to you.You certainly seem to have gone through it. My problems are asthma and Bronchiectasis. I certainly seem to think it is the asthma that gives me more problems. No sure if I have any real advice, only that I have a weather station that provides information about humidity, temp inside the house and outside. I have certainly found that when the humidity is over 65%, or below 40% my asthma seems to be much worse. So I use a humidifier or dehumidifier accordingly.

Good luck in your endeavours to find answers

Thanks for your kind reply. The CT scan ruled out Bronchiectasis for me, at least at the moment.

I too have a steamer that I find really helps at night, but I will try being more proactive with measuring humidity levels, as it definitely seems to affect me. πŸ‘
