It's been a few days since I last posted. I've got 2 days of antibiotics left and I finished my second course of steroids yesterday but still feeling really poorly. My chest keeps getting really tight and I'm coughing a lot, my chest was relatively clear when my Dr listened and my Sat's were 98. I don't know what I should do, my GP is reluctant to give stronger antibiotics because I have frequent infections and have to have the strong antibiotics a lot. I'm not bringing any mucus up as even on Carbocisteine I struggle with expectorating.

You need to contact your gp again and say still very unwell. It isn’t uncommon for me to need several courses of antibiotics and steroids when I am really unwell.
Never hesitate to go back to your GP if symptoms persist, no matter how many courses of treatment tried. Doing nothing isn't an option for you or your doctor. Hope you get things sorted and start to feel well again soon.
How many carbocisteine are you on.I find that after a hot drink i tend to cough some up but not much.
I used to find that when my mum use to get me lying on her bed with my head hanging over the edge with rest of your lower bodybon a pillow if it more comfortable. She use thump my sides and back to release the phlegm a bit sadly i list 15 yrs aho and thats one thing i miss.
But like i aldo struggle to get phlegm up.
Hi there, so sorry to hear you are not feeling well. I was also wondering how many carbocestine tablets you are taking daily. Are you on a nebuliser? I'm not sure what your full medical history is but I'm asthmatic and also have Bronchiectasis which produces excessive amounts of mucous and I find a daily nebuliser of ventolin and saline clears the stubborn mucous, but I also have to take carbocestine daily, 2 tablets 3 times a day, when it's really bad,However, once I'm clear and infection free my maintenance dose reduces to 2 carbocestine a day and the nebuliser.
I really hope you can resolve these ongoing infections and feel better soon. Best wishes.
