Post-covid and asthma

Hi there.

I was tested positive exactly 2 weeks ago. I was tested negative 1 week ago.

My asthma meds are Montelukast 4mg + Symbicort 4.5/80 and I was pretty well with my treatment. My peakflow was normally 600.

During my covid, i went down to 540, not a drama, but I felt a discomfort of breath and I increased my meds (smart plan with symbicort). Now I am starting to feel better, and I am trying to start again with my cardio sessions (walking 1hrs aprox). However, I have good sensations but my peakflow is not going up at all, still 550.

Is it normal? How many days needed to be 100% again?

I am a little bit worried to don't recover my PF marks...

Hi, I'm in exactly the same position. Covid 2 weeks ago and my peak flow still lower. I'm also tight chested and coughing a lot still. No answers for you I'm afraid but also looking for advice from anyone else who might comment on your thread.

I think it takes a while, had it myself 2 weeks ago my peak flow hasn't returned fully and my throat is still raspy and nothing tastes good. I did go for the anti virals and had 2 courses of prednisolone. I think it's a case of be patient and dont expect to recover as quickly as you normally would after a cold or something 😀

They simply gave me Paracetamol and antibiotics + "continue with your asthma meds...".

(I am from Spain by the way)

two weeks is not very long to make a full recovery. I had covid in the summer and for me, is was more like two months plus.

yes. Same. Managed to avoid it up until now! I’m just thankful for the vaccines or I don’t think it would have been as mild as it was.

hi, My asthma flared up in the week before I tested positive for covid. I began a course of prednisolone before I tested positive for covid. I am now day 6 of covid. Still on prednisone. But my peak flow is 400 . I am very mucus though in my chest. I actually think my peak flow is now the best it has been in a long time. Although this could be the prednisolone I am on and the increased Symbicort amounts.

Have you asked for an asthma nurse review to talk about your concerns?

My asthma nurse has been helping me since the start of my flare up and it has helped me to get to day six of covid with my asthma.
