Spiriva was great, at first, but after several months the side effects became unbearable so I had to stop it. The effectiveness, in terms of my asthma, went from great to zilch over the same period. Tip: get your blood pressure checked before you start taking Spiriva and just keep an eye on it just in case it increases (doesn't happen to everyone but it's often overlooked).

Doctors added on spiriva and it really worked. A game changer. I take one puff around midday when I’m fine and up to two puffs when bad. Zero side effects for me and well worth trying. I preferred to take this as opposed to Montelukast which they also discuss with me as didn’t like the sound of the possible side effects with that.

Spiriva exacerbated my asthma. But each of us is different. Good luck

Started Spiriva Respimat a couple of weeks ago. No side effects so far (and I’ve stopped a LOT of inhalers because of side effects) and it does seem to be making a difference - my peak flows are much more grouped now, where I used to get a wide range, and all at the higher end of where I’ve been for some time. Let’s hope things keep improving!

Yes and I found it very helpful almost immediately! I struggled over a long period of time to get my asthma really under control with quite a few changes of medication. However my GP suggested Spiriva and it has been a game changer :-) . I had hoped that it would help me to reduce my Sirdupla eventually. When my new asthma nurse suggested tapering it slowly by the third day I could feel my symptoms coming back. As my asthma attacks can come on very quickly I (with permission) put my Sirdupla back up. However since being on Spiriva I have never had to use my ventolin for more than two doses at the same time (very rare) and overall maybe only usually use it twice in one week max (often not at all).
