I’m interested to know if anyone has or is using mullein tincture to help with mucus someone has told me it is used for respiratory health and is particularly good for dealing with mucus.

I have been drinking Mullein tea, but have noticed no difference other than all the research says it’s good for me. The local Mexican market, they sell a medicinal tea called “broncolin”nthat is mullein leaves mixed with eucalyptus. I’m starting to really like it. Just feels refreshing. But no, no great noticeable difference.

Sorry to jump in on your post but was interested as I’ve never heard of it before. Do you make it into a tea?

Sometimes but mostly from lungs do find mucus in the throat comes from post nasal drip that goes down to the throat I use sterimar nasal congestion relief (natural salt water) which helps a lot but Airphysio also helps with sinus congestion hope this helps

Yes I buy the loose tea from Amazon and make it using a tea strainer, once a day is really good, my mother has not long been diagnosed with emphysema and is using the tea, really has helped

It might be helpful, but currently there isn't much good quality clinical research to show whether it's effective and/or safe for asthma or other respiratory conditions. webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingre...

So as with any other home remedy, proceed with caution and don't stop your asthma medications without discussing with your doctor/asthma nurse. Also be careful to check if it's mixed with anything else - I saw that someone has it mixed with eucalyptus which can be an asthma trigger for some people.

Only 3000 years but no your right, not to sure if the NHS has done many tests, bit like honey really isn't it

Yes like honey people can also be allergic/react to hence the note of caution. And length of time doesn't automatically mean good quality evidence.

I'm not telling anyone they shouldn't take it, but it's the same with any home or 'alternative' remedy. I should have added that some of these remedies can also interact with prescription medications, so should be mentioned when someone asks what you're taking (St John's Wort is a good example of that).

You said currently there isn't much research, there is tonnes of research, it has been used since ancient time. I would say do exactly what they are doing, asking forums like this and looking up all studies done on the product. I recon it's massively effective and alot of other people do to, peace out

Hi there, about the Mullein tea, I drink it everyday and have for 2 years now. It helps me clear mucus off my chest. I saw improvement after a month. I also use the Air physio device every morning and evening and that helps to bring up the mucus and improve my breathing massively I hardly use ventolin now. But I still have one puff of seretide 250 every morning too. Hope this helps.

It's used in homeopathic form - see materiamedica.info/en/mater... forcoughs and some other problems. I would be wary of using the actual plant or mother tincture - homeopathic dilution looks safer.
