Hello,

I tested positive for covid today I have asthma and I’ve developed a wet cough and white phlegm , I’m constantly needed to clear my throat too. Has anyone had a wet cough with covid at the start?

Thank you in advance!

Hi, I’ve not had covid but anyone I’ve known who have had the lastest variant are reporting a lot more wet symptoms- nose gunk than previous variants. Not had anyone say anything about the cough itself because the nose gunk seems to be a bigger issue so I imagine given that the coughs may actually be more wet than dry.

Hi Milo, sorry to hear that you’ve tested positive. I am now on day 10, still testing positive and with ongoing symptoms (but none serious enough to seek medical advice/attention thankfully). I have been very congested throughout, especially at the beginning. I was not coughing too much for the first two days but since day 3 I have had a productive cough with white or sometimes greenish phlegm. I think it’s more post nasal drip than production from my lungs. Take care and try not to worry. Lots of good advice on how to manage your symptoms on NHS, asthma UK and BHF.
