So today I heard from the severe asthma clinic at derriford, i have been approved to start biologics on the 8th feb. What's people's experiences with this? They've told me if it works it could be life changing. It's taken a long time to get the approval and I'm really hoping they work!

I had my first biologics injection yesterday. Like you it has been a long wait. So far feeling as though I can get more air and fill my lungs. I wish you lots of luck. Let us know how you get on.

It was life changing for me. Started February 2021 and now feel great. It took a couple of months to get the full benefit. I inject myself at home every 28 days which is easy to do. I am based in Scotland so it may be different if you live somewhere else in U.K. I keep my fingers crossed that I continue to reap the benefits. Wishing you good health. Forgot to say I have no side effects from it. Good luck.

Ah thanks for that. The plan is for me to self inject every month after the first 5 months. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I’ve been on these for 5 years , with varied success .. first xolair then mepolizomab and now Benralizumab.. the Benralizumab is by far the best and I’ve finnally been able to wean from pred (5 years at 25mg daily) but I now have adrenal insufficiency because of all the pred ... what biological meds are you getting ?

I'm starting with xolair, but they have said I'm eligible for another one if that doesn't work so I'm feeling optimistic..I've been on 40mg pred for over 18 months now, they've said I will likely always need a maintenance dose and we are gona try and reduce down to see if i can get to 10mg over time. I really hope as pred has really changed me and huge weight gain from it too. Your story is really positive 🙂 thank you!

I’ve been taking Dupixent for the last year (I’m in the US) and it seems to have helped a lot. It took 3-4 months to see the full benefit. Good luck!

Fingers crossed it works for you , I used xolair for 18 months but it wasn’t for me .. but with most things nhs I fear it’s down to cost .. xolair & mepo both around £300 a shot , Benralizumab is more like £3000.. I now self administer my Benralizumab injections , Good luck with it all

My son started on Xolair about 7 years ago, no side effects and it turned his life around. He now self injects every month. Good luck and best wishes.
