I know that dysfunctional breathing patterns are really horrible, having had an issue with it myself in the past. But they take a lot of time and work to improve, your brain has had ages to learn these patterns and so also needs ages to relearn the new ones. You need to be doing your exercises multiple times a day, and not just when you feel short of breath. I think people have previously suggested speaking to your GP about the stress this is causing you to see if they can support you with that, because the more you fixate on it the more noticeable it becomes.
If however you really do think it’s your asthma rather than the dysfunctional breathing then you should follow the asthma U.K. guidelines on what to do in a flare, take your ventolin and seek advice from your asthma nurse/GP/111/999 depending on your symptoms and response. As we can’t do anything to help on an online forum.
Hey, I'm having the same problem. I've had bronchial asthma since I was a child, and trying breathing exercises completely backfired. After that, I was out of breath. I'm not sure if I did something incorrectly.
