Prednisolone
You shouldn't do after such a short course. I think that's only likely after 3 weeks - or rather if someone has them or 3 weeks they're supposed to be weaned. But it should be fine after 5 days.
You might get side effects while taking them - most commonly sleeping issues - but they should go once you've finished them if you do get them. Not everyone does of course!
Hi Nina,For me, the benefits far outweigh the side effects, which, thankfully for me aren’t too bad. ( Can’t speak for those around me 😁)
One side effect for me is constipation which in turn gives me puffy ankles.
I perhaps don’t sleep as well as normal, but it isn’t a big problem.
I also get a bit of an energy boost initially, a bit lethargic and grumpy when I finish taking them.
But, they do my breathing the world of good. My peak flows continue to improve after I have finished the course.
I would add to what the others have said, if after 5 days of Prednisolone you don't feel any better don't hesitate to get in touch with your doctor in order to get further treatment - never wait or give it a couple of days. Having said that, I hope the 5 day course does the trick.
Shouldn’t do I’ve just finished a two week course of 30mg and not feeling withdrawal symptoms, other than asthma symptoms still not completely nailed yet.
