When I last posted I was just getting over a chest infection. Gp put me onto another course of oral steroids which seem to do the trick
Have spoken to my respiratory consultant and he has now put me onto long term azithromycin 250mg 3 times a week and monetulakst at night. Has also changed my fostair inhaler from 100/6 to 200/6 twice a day.
Had an asthma review with my gp practice nurse and will have another in a couple of months time

I've found Azithromycin much better than oral steroids, but that's just me. I had one dose, three times a week for four months and it really deals with the inflammation and phlegm. I'm also on Fostair 200/6 & it works much better for me than Symbicort ever did. Montelukast definitely helps me and now I can be around family cats without having a flare up.The proof of the pudding is in the eating though and you should start to see an improvement from about week 4 and the full benefits from week 8, so your asthma nurse appointment is well timed - you can review how you're getting on with everything then and discuss any adjustments to your meds. Hope your new regime does the trick.
