Hello everyone,

I have noticed lately that when i do my workouts (some chest workouts as well) my chest muscles become tight which is affecting my breathing and I become short of breath for the next few days! I dont want to stop my cardio and basic workouts due to this issue! Does anyone have any advice or if I can take any medicine that relaxes my chest muscles?!!

Thank you :)

Sounds like some stretches may be required. youtu.be/xSdsjliJ5Ns

Thanks a lot! Do you think when my chest muscles are tight after workouts they can affect my breathing?

They probably can because a tight chest from stress or anxiety can cause weird breathing patterns (eg too fast, or panicky, or a feeling of being short of breath, probably other stuff too) so I imagine tightness caused by exercise could be similar. A lot of tightness and other breathing symptoms are not asthma at all - not saying yours is or isn't, but many things can cause similar symptoms.

I agree with Twinkly. Stretches are very important to ensure muscles being exercised don't shorten and knot.

Try foam rolling before working out. Also deep tissue massage regularly really helps

Hi there! I 100% suffer with this....if I do a chest press/press up or anything that works my chest muscles they get tight and hurt! I actually had a very bad case which has eased now called chostocondritis. My go to fix for this is something called a ‘back pod’...it’s designed by a physio and it stretches out your chest muscles. It’s pricey but it DOES work! I now get it out just once in a while if I feel a muscle niggle coming on. It also opens your chest & help with asthma. My exercise is my life so there was no way this was going to stop me!!!! Hope this helps 😊
