2nd vaccine

Just a quick question, I have not yet been called for my second vaccine and it's coming up to the 12 week mark (should of been done at 8 weeks according to Boris). My question is is it ok if I'm called after 12 weeks?

I assume that depends on which one, though I seem to remember Boris changed what he said just in the last few days..?? I had three months between my AZ doses, and was given the date of the second when I booked my first. And it worked.

It may have been a local way of managing.

The new stuff says 8-12 weeks so it doesn't have to be 8, and agree that's only a recent change so, even if it was firmly 8, then that would only apply to those it could apply to.

Did you book online/through the NHS or did your GP call you to book you in?

If it was the first, then go back to the booking and see if you can book the second.

If the GP, phone them and ask.

If all else fails call whatever the number is to do with vaccine booking and ask them.

I will just wait and see like I did with the first one, I ended up getting it cos husband asked why he was getting his before I was offered. Seems the same thing is happening again. He has had his text message to book and I haven't, even though we got first one together. GP said we can't contact the surgery, so guess wait and see. I was just curious if it's still ok after 12 weeks as husband's appointment is exactly 12 weeks and I've heard nothing.

Honestly I'd phone the vaccine number and ask. It might prompt an invite which then solves the problem.

HiIf it’s of any help I am on about 16 weeks atm between doses.. I couldn’t have the second when it was due because of my Benra jab and then they forgot..🙄 However I rang last week and have an appt for two weeks time so they don’t seem to be that bothered either way! Should also say ( for info) that I had the AZ and was on the shielding list also over 50!

I think they have prob overlooked you so you should chase it but I wouldn’t worry too much about timings..

Hope you get sorted soon..

Take care

😊👍

Thanks for the reply, I am assuming that if husband has his appointment on the 12 week mark then I will probably hear later, so it's reassuring that you got yours later too

Mother in law is 89 and when it passed 12 weeks she let GP surgery know (after all they are in know and responsible for your health care). They checked and she had been missed so GP sorted her out an appointment with a vaccination centre. If you go past 12 weeks, perhaps it is worth explaining the situation to your GP surgery as it seems you are unable to get through on the given number yourself. Is there also a National number you can phone ? I think it is 119?

Research it.

Our Gp surgery won’t accept phone calls about the vaccine either, but they do have a Facebook page where you can message them. Might be worth checking to see if your practice has one too.

My GP practice also won't accept calls about the vaccine but I e-mailed as I was anxious I had been missed for the first jab. This got a reply and two days later an appointment for the vaccine!

Hi,

I had my first (Pfizer) jab at the GP and they didn’t give me a date for the second one, just said it would be 12 weeks and they would be in touch.

I was getting a bit worried as the time got nearer and I hadn’t been contacted but then the phone call came about a week before the 12 weeks was up.

Like you my GP says not to contact them regarding this and it’s a bit worrying as you get nearer to the 12 weeks. Hope you get somewhere with your enquiries.

Personally I would chase it up. I was in same position, turns out the system has lost record of my first one. I got my second, but 2 mths later still trying to get my first one recorded on system, and it is a nightmare tbh.

Morning! I got my text for the 2nd AZ dose exactly a week before the appointment without any prompting. I think perhaps they're deliberately leaving it closer to the 'due dates' so that we're not all clamouring for the same spots.

I had the Pfizer one. My second was pre booked on the day I had my first. I had it on Wednesday, It was 2 months and 3 weeks between each one. This was at my local hospital.
