Shielding

My consultant said I should be shielding. My gp said he would take advice from the ccg. I've not received a letter yet.

I thought I read some guidance that gp's can "code".

Does anyone have the guidance or advice please. I feel I go round in circles.

Surely the gp should take the advice of my consultant.

Oh how stressful for you! I would have thought they should?! Can your consultant put it in writing or can the GP surgery contact the consultant? Can the consultant not add you to the shielding list?

I don't know the ins and outs of how it all works but I would have thought if that is the consultants advice then it should be followed?

Yes I hope they do follow the consultant advice. Surely the consultant has more knowledge regarding lung conditions. The gp has the letter from the consultant stating this. Thank you for reply.

Hi. I found this paragraph on a GP advice site:-If GPs don't agree that a patient identified as 'high risk' by the hospital falls into this category they should discuss it with the trust. If different opinions still exist the patient should remain in the highest risk category.
