Not a question, but I’m so happy to be just listened to, I just had to share it! I had an asthma review with a nurse in a surgery I’m using as a visiting patient. The nurse was brilliant, very positive and even though I’d never met the nurse before, I really felt I had a shared understanding and choice of treatment of my asthma, rather than with my previous nurse who treated me like a child and nothing ever improved for me. I feel so pleased that I’m now going to be given Fostair on a MART regime (is this the right word?) and have the chance to hopefully change things for the better. I also want to say a big thank you to this community for sharing information and giving advice nurses/ambassadors 👏👏👏 without which I would still be stuck in the dark. 😁🤗🥰

So glad you've finally got somewhere and been listened to! It really does make a difference to be listened to and not treated like an idiot doesn't it? I keep trying to point out to those who lean towards assuming we're incompetent that there's no way any of them can be there all the time or even most of the time for day to day. So they kind of need to trust us/help us to self-manage and decide what we can do and when to call them, instead of assuming we're totally incapable and know nothing.
Crossing fingers Fostair MART helps and you get better - but HU/AUK helpline here if not

Also glad you've got somewhere and.....were listened to! Hopefully over the next 8 weeks the Fostair will kick in, become effective and any side effects will diminish and go away....and you'll be lots better 😊
🙏 thank you, I hope so too. I’m expecting the side effects of shakiness etc. especially as the nurse has said to take 8 doses for two weeks and then start to reduce. But I’m willing to put up with the side effects (which hopefully will start to disappear the longer I take it) if it means good control.

Haha, yes I suppose so. That’s nice 😊 I think you can sense my relief at the lightbulb moments that have been going on for me. 😂It’s because I always felt that I had been either misdiagnosed /puzzled with asthma because it never matched what they expected, when I visited the doctor’s with no wheeze, which they seemed to expect, but unable to breathe, yet able to blow a fair peak flow and ok sats which it seems they didn’t expect. So the doc would be saying, well that’s ok as the tests went on and I’d be feeling like a total fraud as I went out, albeit armed with pred and antibiotics.No one ever explained what was happening so I felt ignorant and unable to ask for different treatment; I didn’t even know different treatment existed until I read the information on this community. So suddenly it all makes sense and I feel elated and in feel in control again - not necessarily of my asthma - but at least I can discuss my treatment with some knowledge. It feels great and it’s all down to you guys. 🤗🤪👍. I’m glad you’re ok at the moment. 😊
Thank you, it makes so much difference for someone to listen to you 😊. I forgot to say, that unfortunately I’m in this area only until March, so won’t be able to stay with the great nurse and this gp practice. But I’m glad I was able to be here and start to make a change. Thanks for your support 🤗
