Oximetry, any recommendations for which one?

Hi, an asthma nurse has just recommended that I have an oximetre at home. I started looking on line but it’s a minefield!

Can anyone recommend one that is accurate? Preferrably suitable for children too.

Thank you in advance.

I'm surprised your AN has suggested this as oximeters are not recommended in asthma.

Asthma UK's post here explains it better than I can:

healthunlocked.com/asthmauk...

While an asthma nurse has recommended it to you I would, personally, be a bit wary because not all ANs at GP surgeries are actually trained ANs - some are just given that title. That's not to say there aren't some excellent ones of course, just that having the title doesn't guarantee that.

You could play devil's advocate and say to your AN ooh this is the advice from Asthma UK but is there a particular one you would recommend as I'm not sure what to go for....then if your AN backtracks then so be it but if not maybe they'll have some helpful thoughts on what you should have! (They may have a genuine reason why you should have one)

When I have enough puff, I’ll give her a ring. 😁

I found it helpful to have when I had covid. I bought mine on Amazon, I don't see the exact one I have on there anymore but there are a bunch of good ones. I'd pick one that has good ratings and is approved by a medical association.
