Just needing to talk I am my 2nd course of steroids in a month day 3 into my 2nd lot. Still not great not had a decent sleep for a month. Very tired and husband gone to work so feel a bit alone. I have coughed alt of mucus up this morning and tight in chest after he left. Sitting looking at the housework and can't seem to do anything yet. I am hoping to feel better in a few, days when the steroids kick in. Hope they are the last course for awhile as they give me anxiety think a thank you for listening need to give myself a shake I think wish I did not suffer every summer and know there is many of u worse off. Will make myself a coffee. All take care

Hope your steroids kick in soon. It's hard when you feel like everything is an effort. Is there something nice you can do today to cheer yourself up, even if it's something nice to eat or drink, something to watch, listen to or read, or a bit of fresh air?

Thank you for your reply. I will watch abit of TV & try to relax. Think it's the pills making me feel down and obviously tiredness. Found a box set called "a place to call home" set in Australia about a nurse "Sounds OK will give it a go. You take care xx

I hate that feeling. And it's hard when steroids make you so not-yourself. They often make me weepier or more emotional or irritable than normal. Sometimes they make me super productive and I clean the whole house and feel invincible and other times I can't focus on anything. It's really hard to be in a bad flare and on meds that make you feel off and exhausted because you're not sleeping and to be alone at home (and in the middle of a pandemic which is like this constant pulse of anxiety around us!). I empathize and hope your asthma improves soon. Have you had a chance to see your GP to review your asthma plan? Maybe you could add an additional controller inhaler for a few months until your breathing calms down. Take good care, keep us posted on how you're doing.

Hi thank you for your reply. I feel a bit calmer today managed 4 hours sleep you are right about the highs & lows on steroids but they are the only thing that seems to work. I have a preventer sirdupla inhale but this time of year they don't help. I can use a reliver up in 4 days sometimes . not seen the doc for awhile only phone calls but I prefer that at moment with this virus about. I will improve soon too on Autumn ha xx

How did you get on with your box set? Sorry your feeling crappy. Steroids- I cant work out if they're my enemy (insomnia, sweating, mood changes) or my friend (calming my immune system and breathing) as others have said maybe call gp again and get a review. Hope your feeling better very soon. 🙂

Hi thank you I am a bit easier today. The box set worked well its very good think I am hooked & and took my mind off things. I agree about steroids but they do help pity about the side effects! But better than gasping to breath. Take care xx

I recently completed my third course since March. My inhaler has been increased as well. That is making a difference too.

Maybe a review would be a good idea. Like you, all my appointments have been on the phone. It was explained to me that my airways need to be calmed down for a while then try to reduce my dose again.

Just a thought, if you’re taking your third dose so close together it may be worthwhile having a discussion with the GP about coming off them gradually? Take care x

Thank you for your reply. I am only on my 2nd course so doc said no need to decrease only if I need third lot which I hope not. Finishing steroids tomorrow so hope they work. I will talk to doc again if I am still not right. Been like this for 25 years every summer and never been offered any specialist help. Spent a week in hosp last year & never even got a follow up app with docs. Our surgery nor great I feel but as my chest quite good rest of year I don't push things. Xx

Get intouch with your gp tellthem your asthma not settling you might need your inhaler reviewed or even changed se if you can get referred to the Respiratory clinic at hospital if you can they will review everything and give your asthma a review.

If have to go to your gp its save they only letting those who need to be seen if gp gives appointment. I've been a few times they have measures in to keep you safe nurses and gp wearing masks and aprons.

Go get sorted out will you and it might do you some good.

Ok
