I moved from Symbicort to something else then Seretide and I'm now back on Symbicort with added Spiriva Respimat. So far I've found the Symbicort not to be as good as Ventolin for instant relief of wheezing and I seem, like yourself, to have developed a slight, but constant cough (PF around normal). With a bit of luck it'll sort itself out as we get back to normality... although the cough is annoying... I may go back to my GP next week and mention this.

Just saw your comment about a cough, this happened to me when I tried Spiriva and had to come off it in the end as I was just coughing all the time and ended up on antibiotics.
Hmmm, I'd put the cough down to Symbicort as I use that more often.
Hi Jimmy, thank you for your kind reply, you are like myself all just trial & error, but I guess we will have to keep trying. all the various inhalers, & hopefully we will eventually find the right one for us..I wish you good health & much happiness for the future..x

Sorry if this is a daft question, but was this done with your permission? Sometimes people get changed to different inhalers without being consulted. I've been on Seretide 250 for over 15 years and it has been very effective for me, despite trying numerous other inhalers in the meantime (Fostair, Symbricort) and I've never found them as effective as Seretide. It's a bit older than the rest and more expensive so sometimes people get switched off it for cheaper inhalers, but you have to go with what works for you, so see how it goes. Did you get an explanation as to why you were switched to Seretide?
Yes ccccc, I did ask for a change from symbicort as I have been on it for many years, & I always seem to cough after each inhaled dose, I have tried other inhalers recently eg fostair next 100 which did not help any, so now I have been prescribed seretide which hopefully will help cough.. I find Seretide 250 very effective, I’ve been on it for years now. Tried one change to a cheaper version of same, Dr said, but caused migraines and sensitivity to light.
Only problem is the steroid effect on my skin, like bruising, especially on my arms, which I think seems to be more prevalent with Seretide 250.

Reassuring to know it’s not Seretide in particular causing more ‘bruising’. I keep thinking I ought to try changing to another, but fearful of loss of control of the asthma....I won’t bother now, I’ll just continue to wear long sleeves!!

Yes Yatzy, you are certainly making the correct decision by staying on seritide, I do know that bruising on your arms can be rather unsightly if you are wearing short sleeves, but what I do when wearing sleeveless or short sleeve tops is slightly cover the bruises with a good concealer similar colour to your skin, let it dry well before putting top on, it works wonders for me Yatzy but I guess some people would not agree , but I would say it is worth a try...x

I've got SREA and I've been on seretide for 20 odd years. Its the best for me. I've tried loads of other combi's but side effects have always been a problem (mainly terrible shakes) so i stick with the seretide, plus a few other things.
Just to check tho that the pharmacy who filled your prescription have given you Seretide and not Sirdupla, which is sometimes used as a substitute because I think its cheaper, but it does contain some other things that aren't in seretide, so possibly that could be irritating / making you cough??

Thank you. You are most welcome. The dry powder / disc version of seretide works best for me, although I believe the acuhaler type is the one most commonly prescribed.

I am on Sirdupla which I was told is a type of Seretide , and find it very good So try it if you are sent this .Good luck Marilyn
