Reduce plastic waste from inhalers

Hello, I saw many people writing about the unnecessary plastic waste from inhalers so I have set up a petition

If you could share and sign in that would be amazing!

I know there are some schemes such as the gsk one where you send back inhalers but I know mmay people are not aware of this. A system where you could simply order only the canister and not the plastic part would be a major reduction on plastic waste.

Or I use GSK to recycle them. I also recycle them in the orange bag's but of course with COVID-19 getting hands on orange bag's is difficult

I hand all my used inhalers back to the pharmacy. I've got a bag of them ready to go after this pandemic 🤣 but I've also always wondered why you cant get he canisters and just get a new plastic bit if and when you need it

I didn't even know you could do that till you all mentioned it in the comments and when I was looking before writing the petition I found out you can send them to GSK, I've just been putting them in plastic recycling.

Did you GP surgery tell you about returning the plastic part?

No I asked the pharmacy what to do. I give then the whole thing, canister and all, and I dont know what they're going to do with them

Fair enough I never really knew how to get rid of them when they're empty

I used to work in a supermarket with a pharmacy and they told me they could recycle the stuff. And now I've just been bagging everything up and it's ready to go whenever they start taking them again

My pharmacy never hand out the refills for Spirivamat(tiotropium) even though the information says they do make them.

You can take them to Boots who recycle them.

Can you do that even if you don't get them from boots?

That's great!
