Following procedures but my gp doesn't seem to be

So annoyed, I had a call from my nurse to see how I was and told her I have a fever spre throat pains in my chest and using more nebuliser than I normally do she told me to ring 111 which I did was on hold for over 3 hours they passed my case to someone else then they passed it to the local coronavirus service then they passed it to a dr due to it being flagged up red as coronavirus, I spoke to a dr and he said i could either have covid19 or a bad chest infection and advised me to ask my dr for a stronger antibiotic as i had used my rescue pack that week rang my gp and he asked for a sputum sample i told him i cant wait for results as it's too long and i would end up having a severe life threatening asthma attack which i take every 6-8 weeks anyway, and I would put more strain on intensive care, plus i have been told to stay indoors had a text and letter, how does he expect me to get a sputum to him when my husband has had to self isolate also due to his illnesses and me having suspected covid19 no wonder our nhs is struggling when the doctors will not follow the advice from 111 sorry for the long post but just so annoyed with what is going on they are giving me no choice but to go to A and E and risk infecting others if I have covid19 as I cant leave this infection as I have pseudomonus all the time and take colomycin nebs for it 🤬🤬

Please don't go to A&E try 111 again be patient if you went to A&E could be waiting hours but if do by phone from home it may be as long but you will be safe from potentially catching it or spreading it.

Ring 111 back up they will have record of your call, explain what happened with GP they can get one of there Dr's to prescribe and if no one can collect prescription they will get tablets delivered to your home.

Only go to A&E last resort use 999 paramedics don't drive, they have nebulisers and if explain they will say if need to go in or can organise antibiotic for you

Thankyou for tour reply I already have 3 different types of home nebs and have used my rescue pack of steroids (on maintenance dose of 25mg daily) asthma nurse said go to a and e as there was only 3 people in there at the time but surely even if 1 person was there with it we r being told we cud infect 3 people at a time I have no choice but to stay at home and wait for another life threatening asthma attack as I take these type of attacks every 6-8 weeks as it is and asthma killed my 8 year old daughter father and 2 cousins so asthma is extremely severe in our family xx

Go to a&e. Better a quick in and out now, then a long stay later, and less risk to you and others. Also if you report covid symptoms you’ll be isolated from the start. Please listen to your AN and go in now

My visits are never quick in and out hun my visits last between 3 weeks and 3 months never been in hospital for just a few days as it's hard to get my asthma under control even on all the intravenous medications I have managed to get myself doxycycline tablets so will see how I go with them thankyou everyone for your replies, stay safe and stay well to all of you xx

Sorry to hear this. I know mine isn't as bad but I myself phoned my doctor on the morning of day 3 of pred as was worse and worried that if I left it until day 4 and needed more i wouldn't be able to get the meds at the weekend and was told over the phone that I seemed to be talking ok as wasnt wheezing ( 1: I've never had a wheeze 2: never spoke to him before and am bloody good at trying to sound ok for the kids anyway who were with me) and told that if I really couldn't breathe that night to phone an ambulance and go to hospital! He even said and I quote 'you do have asthma, don't you?'! He said it must be a worry for you at this time, I think implying I am just anxious. The fact that I get puffed out walking up the stairs, really struggle to talk when walking (for a few months now) and am puffed when doing anything strenuous points to my asthma being triggered instead of anxiety.

Sorry rant over, appreciate the doctors are overwhelmed but feel some of us fall through the cracks so to speak

I’m in exactly the same situation Flowergirl - sending lots of virtual hugs and support to all of us who are falling through the cracks like this and having to fight our corner over and over again. Having asthma seems to be part dealing with the actual asthma and part dealing with the drama around trying to sort it out with the health system. Sometimes it’s amazing, I know it can be an amazing service but sometimes it isn’t and it makes me wish even more that I didn’t have asthma. Good luck everyone x
