I live in the West Midlands and have not received a letter yet ! I was sent home from work at a school as deemed high risk waited till the 30th March as government suggested , still no letter so have now phoned GP twice who have said that I am high risk and should receive a letter but now to wait till next Tuesday the 7 th April If not received one then they will give me a note for work ! By then if the school had not sent me home I would have still been at work for nearly 3 weeks !!

I managed to speak to my doc who told me she thought I was borderline whether to shield or not. She also said all advice I needed was on Public Health England website and Gps were not doing letters.
I told her I used NHS digital and the .Govuk sites for my information and it clearly said that Gps were expected to add 600k to the 900k vulnerable people already on the list. I also told her that on those sites it says to contact your GP if you needed a letter or note for your employer to prove that you should be shielded.
I pointed out there was also a list of medications on these sites that the nhs used to help identify vulnerable people and mine was on there.
She agreed to write me a letter (To Whom It May Concern) that I could have picked up from the surgery.
Sorry if this appears long winded but I wanted to give this information to anyone who is in a similar position.
Know how you feel I don’t want to be off work I love my job but the government advice is so vague and they have not mentioned this again since but obviously employer needs proof !
I can probably isolate quite well at work so I might tell GP this and go back !
Just make sure you check with your employer before going back if you have a shielding letter.. because I tried this ( as I can easily work alone in my own space) and they said no because of insurance issues if you do catch the virus whilst there...
