Hi, I have been diagnosed as having asthma as I get very wheezy after exercising, so I have a blue inhaler. I was on Symbicort for a few months last year but this didn't alleviate the wheezing when I ran and had me covered in bruises so i came off it and just use the blue one as and when.
I have noticed in the past few months I am getting very out of breath just walking upstairs or slightly uphill. Like I cant walk and talk at the same time. But I get no wheezing/coughing etc to suggest asthma and aside from this I am fine.
I just wondered if anyone else has been in a similar position and any idea of what it could be. I don't want to bother the gp at the moment but I was beginning to wonder if I should take something to stop it.
Thanks!

Sounds like you need to see your GP. I've always struggled with inclines which always leave me breathless. Even at my fittest I could walk for mile on the flat but show me a hill...
There are other inhaled treatments that can address your symptoms and you may benefit from a steroid inhaler or another combination inhaler rather than Symbicourt. I'm on Fostair now and it suits me better than Symbicourt ever did.
Hi, it does sound as though you need to use a preventer inhaler Newbiejohn. All preventers come in different strengths of dose. I didn't know this when embarking on my asthma journey, it's quite a learning curve. Symbicort didn't suit me either, then it was Seretide for a few years (which made my skin thin and bruise easily when I a high-ish dose ). Now I'm on Fostair 100 which is utterly brilliant for me. Skin has recovered, it's a MART inhaler (you can raise and lower dosage as & when plus use as a rescue inhaler ie before exercise).
I would have a phone consultation with gp to try another one, it's not one size fits all. Back in 2009 I began to get serious chest infections and 5 times pneumonia, dozens of courses of antibiotics and mostly due to uncontrolled asthma. It was 2014 before improvement began by that time long damage was done, immune system was rock bottom & now have bronchiectasis and CFS. If only I knew then what I knew now, thank heavens for Health Unlocked!
You need to see a GP. Apart from the asthma, breathlessness can be caused by a number of other things and you should be checked out for your own peace of mind.
Hi I think you should go back to Dr's if you are struggling, I was put on Inhalers for a couple of months 4 yrs ago and to come off them when the weather picked up.
But after only a week it started again .I went back and the Dr put me back on the Inhalers. Been on them ever since.
