My friends have recently told me about the benefits of Tumeric supplements, and looking into I can see that some have seen improvements with there asthma. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Tumeric
I take tumeric, it has helped greatly with knee pain, I've had much improved mobility, and hardly any pain. Saying that, it has had no impact on my asthma symptoms, although it is a natural anti inflammatory. It has had no detrimental effect on my asthma either, so if you feel like trying to see if it helps, it's very inexpensive, I get mine from Amazon, about £6 for 3 months supply.
Thanks for the reply. I got it for the general long term health benefits rather than something for my asthma! Just wondered if other people have effects of any kind. More concerned of it having a detrimental effect - however with quitting smoking a few weeks back, a positive effect on the asthma would be welcomed!
As with mintypol, I and many I know have had excellent results for other inflammatory conditions - fibromyalgia etc but haven’t noticed any effect (positive or negative) in association with asthma. I have just googled it and there does seem to be some evidence suggesting it can have a positive impact on airway inflammation. Certainly I have had no side effects from taking it for many years now.
I’ve read that the quantity and form you take really matters. I don’t take supplements but I drink an ‘anti-inflammatory shot’ daily that I make by juicing fresh turmeric, ginger, lemon and some apple (to make it tolerable). I’ve found it has a pronounced effect on my feeling of tightness. This along with a overall anti-inflammatory diet makes a huge difference for me. It does more for me than rescue inhalers.
Do you not like the taste of the turmeric? I find turmeric tea made with fresh root, milk and honey really really nice but to be honest can’t always be asked with preparing it so don’t take it consistently enough to see the benefits long term. It helped with IBS bloating a lot though even short term.
I’ve not tried tea like that. How do you use the turmeric - whole chunks, sliced, shaved? I got sick of cleaning my juicer (it’s such a complicated contraption!) and now I just throw whole chunks of turmeric into the blender with other stuff for a daily smoothie. Frozen pineapple seems to combine well. I also put a chunk of fresh ginger in.
