Hi there, how long do you take the fostair ? If you out of breath or start to get more wheezy you should use your the blue inhaler, like Salomol and check in with your GP, maybe you getting a cold or infection. You take care ok 🕯️🌹🕯️

That's good to hear that you can speak to the nurse. Did you have this problem before you started Taking the Fostair? Hope you getting better again, good luck to you!! 🍀🍀🍀

Hi BMorr

I was put on Fostair and must admit my breathing was terrible, i had to use my blue inhaler but found that to be very ineffective whilst on fostair. I went back to my nurse and was changed back to clenil modulate, they upped the dose and I am able to breath properly again

Fostair doesn’t work for everyone so get back to you GP and they can assess and look at alternatives for you

Best wishes

Fostair didn’t suit me either, thought I’d been given a placebo!

I’m taking symbicort now although I need the pressurised one (I did try the SMART regime but wasn’t for me)

Good look in finding what works for you!

I'm on Fostair 200 and it's not working for me. Waiting for tests ar hospital and then hopefully they'll change my meds. Meanwhile, what are we supposed to do whilst wete waiting for our meds to be changed?

I know it's hopeless

Hi both of you. I want to know that things aren't hopeless. Have you thought about ringing asthma UK helpline. They will give you advice on how to get the help you need. Here is the link below.

I have been through a simpler experience as you too. About two years ago I had my inhaler swapped from Seretide to Fostair and it didn't work. After two days my asthma symptoms returned and I swapped myself back again to Seretide. Granted I wasn't under hospital care back then just under my GP and asthma nurse. I then went back to see my asthma nurse (very experience and knowledgeable) who didn't critise me going back to it. She was of the opinion of it work then don't rock the boat. Not every inhaler works the same for every person as we are all different.

Hope my advice helps you two.

Thanks elanaoali. I've been to GP today and he thinks its eosinophilic asthma. He said he could give me steroids but they'll interfere with the tests I'm going to have done. So I've just got to sit and wait for the tests and diagnosis off consultant. It's hard 😟

I presume you are having the breathing tests etc. I have had those tests too and like you had to come off my inhaler for it too (48hrs) I had to cancel my first appointment to do this as I had an asthma attack a few days before and had to be on a short course of steroids.

It was very frustrating!

I hope and pray you get your breathing test asap.

Yes was on seretide 250 for many years and prescription changed to Fostair. As soon as I started taking it my breathing got worse and had to take a lot of ventolin( which I rarely used whilst I was on seretide) I also had severe cramps in my legs. I saw my GP who agreed that it wasn't working for me and I went back to seretide. Hope this helps.

I was on Fostair and it did work for me but I was getting lots of side effects. Posted a question on here and several people came up with suggestions.

Took a look at different options I am now on Relvar which had different ingredients to fostair and thank goodness it seems to be working with fewer side effects.

GP's are generally experts in asthma. I had downloaded information about Relvar for my GP. It seems that we are individual when it comes to what medication works best for us. Definitely if you are having to take additional ventolin then discuss alternatives - increase dose (if you are not on maximum), try an alternative or ask for a referral to a specialist. If you go for the latter there will be a waiting list so you might want to try options 1 or 2 while waiting. Hope you find something that works. Plus additional thought if you might be allergic to something adding a daily antihistamine might help.

I also take a nasal steroid to stop rhinitis irritation dripping down back of throat and zantac to prevent oesophageal reflux. They can all aggreavate asthma.
