Asthma sucks. We all know it. But do you have an amusing situation that your lungs have landed you in? Doesn’t matter where (school, home, work, hospital). Maybe you can help someone smile today 😉

I have 2 that spring to mind;

1 - living in student house with house mates. They discover this link ( youtu.be/hw3CE04LGiA ) and decide they must play it to me, cause I sound like it. They play. I laugh. They laugh and play again. This continued on repeat til my friend almost wet herself and I ended up I hospital... needless to say it was very amusing trying to explain that trigger... ended up me just playing the doc/nurse the clip and bursting into laughter again.... ‘‘tis how I got my nickname (even thinking about that clip makes me laugh 😂)

2 - admitted from hosp AN appt (landlord had decided that he wanted to paint without warning us...). Get a bed in amu and get ‘usual’ amu doc come over with minion. Minion goes to try and present me. Doc stops him with ‘Rachel and I go waaay back’ (and slaps me on the back). He looks confused the whole time glancing from doc to me to notes continually, whilst I hold back laughter. She eventually walks off to get the drugs written up and minion comes over... ‘your name IS Emma, right?’ ‘Yes. It is. But I didn’t want to stop her cause she was actually doing what I wanted her to do for once...’ we both crack up

Anyone else got any amusing stories??

I also had the muttley clip played to me and gained it as a nickname (from Uni housemates, family, paramedics etc etc!) :P

Its not great but every time I'm wheeled into CDU in my trust (respiratory is in a different hospital to A&E) at least one member of staff tends to shout "ITS JESS" across the ward. Much to the confusion of paramedics and other patients.

I once got told by a nurse 'you can have a side room...you have enough frequent flyer points to upgrade now'.

There need to be some benefits to being a frequent flyer ;) see it as a loyalty card!

I once got to choose my bed. Was first one in an empty bay. They wanted to put me in bed 1. I asked for bed 3. ‘Why?’ ‘So I can complete bed bingo. I’ve done all the rest of them in this bay...’ 😂😂

I haven't yet landed in hospital for this, but only because of the timing. If I'd been worse I think I would have had to explain a) why DamnYouAutoCorrect is quite so funny (for some reason I can't really work out, I can't read one of those compilations without collapsing in helpless laughter, and I once thought post-A&E was a good time to look) and b) why the link below which a friend sent me is so dangerous:

facebook.com/39474025804352...

I watched that link. I laughed helplessly and made noises. Partner played it again multiple times and I made more noises. Now he only has to mention it and I start up again. Even better since I have actually sung Carmina Burana - think that will be the last time as I will not now be able to sing it without collapsing in giggles. I don't know WHY I find it quite so funny but it really tickles me! I'm very easily amused, which is why having laughter as an asthma trigger is annoying.

I have now been sent the full animated version which is even MORE dangerous! I have visions of myself having to play it in A&E to explain (don't worry, if I actually think things are bad/serious I don't watch these things - one trigger too many, but what a trigger lol. Maybe I should add it to my summary...)

PS If you are currently struggling and like me are very easily amused, DO NOT CLICK! And don't look up DYAC compilations either. You have been warned... ;)

I wonder who sent you that first FB link... 🤔🤔🤔 (I plead the fifth! 😂😂😂).

Ps people please heed the warning (esp if you play the YouTube video) 😂

Oh same! I like to say he's a good role model for asthmatics. After all, look at what he achieved, even if he is evil. And he has a great cloak - I used to want to be Maleficent for the cloak.
