Clothes dryer lint

Hi. Bit of a weird question: Cleaning the lint out of the dryer filter raises loads of dust. I use a disposable surgical mask when cleaning it out but it doesn't help much. Does anybody have any tips to keep dust down when cleaning the dryer filter? Even a water spray doesn't seem to help much. Thanks
