Smoking in public spaces

Any one else find it difficult to move through places because of other people smoking and vaping. This morning got off the bus and then came near three people smoking started me off coughing so had to use inhaler. Sometimes find the walk from the bus stop to work like an assault course, due to breathing in second hand smoke. Also find it quite stifling coming into contact with someone who is a heavy smoker. I wish they would ban it from public spaces. Its so antisocial and causes major issues when you have asthma.

I completely agree! Going to town this time of year can be a nightmare because of the amount of people smoking! We have a fab outdoor cafe in our town centre but I can never stay there because of breathing in other people's smoke! X

I agree, perfume, hairspray and those air fresheners that some stores use.

Yes, it's gross and unhelpful. Why do they have to light up right by exits?! Why do people have to wear so much perfume?!

Yes, I have to try to stop breathing when walking in or out of our local pub. As you say, people stand in the doorway smoking. Agree about the perfume too.

And shopping centres. Where people must light up because they haven't been able to do so for ooh ten minutes.

As a brittle asthmatic I hate smoke!

Been through town this morning and just now, bit better just now, but this morning was bad. I do feel like going up to smokers and vapers and taking the vile things out of their mouths. I have wondered about getting a mask but not overly keen on the idea.

The biggest issue I have is when I go to the doctor's surgery or even a restaurant you will have people standing across the door smoking and then you are forced to walk through sometimes a cloud of smoke and if you say anything the retort by a cummon mate I am only Vaping and sometimes you have just walked through a cloud of Vaping smoke some will it is only water that is being evaporated off sometimes I wished they could smell it and then realise the harmful effect of their vaping my eldest grandson has started vaping but he will not light when I am around. I told him when and how I started smoking and to look at me now I sometimes struggle to breathe and yet back in the 50's and 60's the word on the street was that smoking does not do any harm as everybody was smoking oh how I wish today that I listened to some back then. Oh how often we learn after the event and in our cases we learn too late. Breathe easy my friends and take it easy, every day is our oyster if we keep the air clean and free from smoke.

Yes, I find worst at the entrance to our doctors surgery and at our local hospital, then having to sit next to a heavy smoker in the waiting rooms. I even had to put up with a secret vaper on a hospital ward.

I try to look ahead to spot smokers and vapers, then hold my breath whilst I walk through clouds of smoke. It doesn't always work and causes my chest to become tight.

I have also noticed a lot more people openly smoking weed, which also triggers my asthma. I'm getting a bit tired of people who smoke, not being aware of the risks they pose to people with asthma and other chronic lung diseases. I have had to walk through billowing clouds of vape a lot lately, but that might be due to a vape shop opening recently.

I often have trouble in public spaces because of people smoking. The worst, ironically (and it's really disgusting) is at one of the hospitals in my city. The only way you can get to their outpatient clinics is to walk past the emergency department down a laneway where the ambulances go. Despite the hospital being a non-smoking campus, there is always a line of people smoking outside the emergency department and nobody does anything about it. Across the laneway is a chapel which is technically not hospital grounds. There is always a long line of nurses on the pavement outside the chapel smoking. So basically to see an outpatient doctor at that hospital I have to run the gauntlet of smokers on both sides of the laneway I'm forced to go down. It's absolutely disgusting. I refuse to see any specialists at that hospital as a consequence.

Yes I hate it too, I have to hold my breath or now and again a hols a tissue over my nose and mouth. Nor just smoke and vapers. It's people wearing half a bottle of perfume ect. Well it smells like it.

Yes! I feel the same!

I even have problems with smokers who smoked outside then come into a close space.... It's like they didn't expel all the smoke before coming inside. Ugh!

I have brittle asthma type 1 and wear a industrial dust and smoke respirator as I can't have any dust or smoke in my airway. As they are my worst trigers That have cause 6 major attacks which has landed me in ICU. We all with many different respiratory problems need to have our vocies heard by all governments all over the world. We have the power the end the evil that is the cigarette industry. I am not just one person but I will build a army of like minded people who are going to make change. I will be making a web page soon. I am asthma Tim.
