Vocal cords

I have recently started taking symbicort regularly and have noticed a marked change in my voice. Hoarse and dry. I do rinse after taking it but I'm convinced it's affecting my vocal cords which aren't really reached when you rinse out your mouth are they?

My respiratory team told me that rinsing your mouth is insufficient and it is essential to gargle to clean the vocal cords. I rinse and then gargle and have had no problems during the last 8 years.

Yes, same here. It’s a routine, inhaler, rinse n gargle a bit with water, clean teeth well, rinse n gargle again, morning and evening. My GP said drink some water too after all that, washes any traces of inhaler off your throat asap, and goes deeper than a gargle. No more croaking or thrush in throat. Good luck 😀

How are you coping with the cataracts?

I’ve had to delay the op because I was offered some marking work, which of course heavily uses eyes. Optician said allow six weeks to get glasses prescription right again, if need it at all.

So maybe July now. It’s given me time to realise I do need it, in one eye anyway. It was all a bit rushed before, from a surprise diagnosis in opticians chair to ten days to clinic and four weeks to planned op.

I need time to settle willingly to medical treatment!

I think the cataract on my left eye is progressing quite quickly, as is typical of those that are steroid induced. I’m getting convinced I need the op!!

Thanks for asking.

This is a great thread! My voice is often so weird and croaky I think it's because I'm not gargling enough. I'll start to do it even more.

Thanks for asking this!
