Had a difficult week and saw both the asthma nurse who promptly went to get my GP. Now have prednisone 30mg for seven days and a chest x-Ray to be done. I was just coughing and coughing and full of mucus. Chest tight and sweating. Some crackles in lower lung. Of course no wheezing but I don’t wheeze I cough!

Downhill a little with cough variant asthma
I was like that when I was first diagnosed, but as Ventolin in the surgery sorted it out I was diagnosed with Asthma. Since then (twice ) I’ve had the cough, no wheezing, chest clear but low PF and low oxygen levels when they put that thing onto my finger, again Prednisalone and copious use of Ventolin.
But the last exacerbation I had was, no cough, no wheezing, clear chest, just woke up anxious, shaking, a bit muddle headed and wobbly, rang the surgery thinking it was a reaction to the Fostair, I was put straight into Pred, Ventolin and Montelukast and told to have someone with me for 24 hours and if I had any problems call for an ambulance. So I’m really all at sea at the moment, not sure what to look out for. Hey ho.
I have a streaming cold at the moment so I’m back to 2xpuffs night and morning just in case, but they make me tremble for about half an hour. It’s a pain .
I hope your chest infection goes soon, meanwhile expect to be extremely tired so lots of laying down and fluids, my first chest problem that they said was Asthma took nearly 6 weeks for me to get back to normal.
Thank you. I was very wobbly yesterday as well but put that down to feeling so unwell. It’s reassuring, in a way, to realise that it was part of the same. Feel much more the thing today but it’s early yet.
There doesn’t seem to be any mucus yet this morning so I’m hoping that the prednisone is working already.
It’s been a long fight to get the cough recognised as asthma but my last spyromatory (spelling) test was very clear it’s asthma.
I have clear diurnal variation also. Terrible in the morning, human in the afternoon and feeling well in the evening.
I’m sleeping really poorly however.
When I was on Pred I would spend my so called sleeping hours planning what I would do the next day, I had so much energy (I had been warned) But it came in bursts so I didn’t get much done, I was a bit hyper and jumpy.
Then when I came off, oh dear I came back to Earth with a big bump and just flopped around for a couple of weeks. The nurse called it the steroid high and low. I Hope you feel better soon, at least the weather is good so you can have a wander around outside, but take your meds with you just in case.
