We have a portable nebuliser a few years old but in excellent condition which is not needed now. Before I simply dump it, any ideas how I might pass it onto someone who would appreciate it? I ve asked local chemist but no ideas. Any thoughts welcomed. I'm in the Hounslow Tw3 area.
Many thanks

I know this sounds wasteful but it really would be best to dispose of your old nebuliser. The general thinking is now that if someone is unwell enough to need a nebuliser then they should call for an ambulance. Also, second hand medical equipment should only ever be re-used once it’s been thoroughly checked over by a qualified medical engineer. Think of it this way. How would you feel if the new user of an old nebuliser died because the equipment didn’t dispense the correct dose, or because that person persisted with the nebuliser instead of calling for urgent medical help? It’s kind of you to think of passing this device on, but it isn’t really the best course of action. A nebuliser could easily be used in a life-critical situation, and the ones used by the emergency services will be subject to routine functional and safety tests. Also. a nebuliser is only of use if it’s loaded with the right drugs for that individual patient. There’s no way of knowing that your old nebuliser is compatible with the latest drugs and dosages. Play it safe and dispose of your old nebuliser responsibly at the local waste disposal centre.
